Now that the government shut down is approaching its second week, you probably heard that Alcatraz Island tours have been cancelled.
But if you had your heart set on visiting The Rock, don’t despair. Guardians of the Gate San Francisco Bay cruise is coming to the rescue.
This new fully-narrated, 90-minute cruise features spectacular views as it sails past the waterfront and passes the Golden Gate Bridge, weather permitting.
What you can expect on the Alcatraz Excursions tour
In order to get the best feel for Alcatraz Island, Alcatraz Excursions circles the former prison twice while a narration tells stories of life on this notorious island.
The up close views of Alcatraz are complemented by recorded personal accounts from former inmates, guards and resident families who actually lived and worked on the island. Because of the government shutdown, the tour is not allowed to dock on the island.
Free souvenir photo
In addition to the audio tour, Alcatraz Excursions is offering passengers a complimentary souvenir boarding photo.
