One Albuquerque shooting victim has been identified as a local New Mexico pastor named Greg Griego. The suspect in the murders is a 15-year-old boy named Nehemiah Griego, according to Eyewitness News 4 KOB. He is presumed to be related to the victims who were killed on Sat., Jan. 19, 2013 inside a home in a rural area.
An adult male believed to be Greg Griego was found dead along with an adult female and three minor children, two female and one male, after police responded to the home following a 911 call. KOB reported that the teen suspect phoned an individual after the Albuquerque shooting, and that individual notified police.
The five victims were reportedly well-known members of the local Christian community who attended church services as a family every Sunday. Greg Griego was a beloved former pastor at Calvary on Osuna. Although there is no indication whether they are related to the shooting suspect or the victims, several individuals with the last name Griego are listed on the website of the parish as staff members. Pastor Greg Griego is listed as Jail Ministry of the Metropolitan Detention Center in a 2008 record of a ministry meeting.
The teen suspect was placed under arrest by the Bernalillo County sheriff's department. He was booked on three counts of child abuse resulting in death and two counts of murder. Each of his five victims sustained multiple gunshot wounds in the tragic Albuquerque shooting.
The story is still developing.
