The Manzano Monarch High School varsity girls have a 3-7 record in the 5A Division, District 2 basketball standings. The Monarchs will play a home non-conference game today against Del Norte High School. Eldorado High School and La Cueva High School are tied for first place with identical 8-2 records.
The Eldorado Eagle's defense is the best so far. They have only allowed 365 points to be scored against them. Eldorado lost 49-45 Saturday to Hope Christian. They'll lace up their sneakers tomorrow to play against Volcano Vista High School. The Sandia High School girls have scored 595 points, the most in their district. The Matadors are in third place with a record of 10-3. Fresh off of a 47-38 win Saturday over Cleveland High School, Sandia's next game is Friday when it travels to play Los Alamos High School.
The La Cueva Bears won 39-38 over Hope Christian High School Jan. 11. Shayla Malecki scored 16 points and was named Player of the Game. The Bears play tomorrow against an opponent who was not named at the time that this was written.
