Once again, Sara Bareilles has captured the hearts of her fans, singing soulful and eloquent love songs, while adding a mix of pop and funk to her sophomore release of Kaleidoscope Heart, which dropped this week on September 7th. Out promoting her new album, she has been performing her latest single “King of Anything” live on The Today Show and Regis and Kelly which was broadcasted this week on TV, and will be starting her tour September 25th in Portland, Oregon, which will run through November, where she will then begin touring through the US and Europe with Maroon 5 later this fall. This native Californian American singer/songwriter/pianist made her debut to the music world in 2007 with her first album Little Voice, which made the Billboard 100 Top 10. She captivated her audience with popular singles “Love Song” and “Gravity”, which resulted in a special release album from her live performance at The Fillmore in San Francisco.

This new album starts off with “Kaleidoscope Heart”, which is reminiscent of Imogen Heap’s “Hide and Seek” and the soft voice of Neko Case. The subsequent songs follow the more upbeat tunes that fans became hooked onto from her first album, which incorporates her piano playing skills with positively invoking lyrics about female empowerment and moving on from heartbreak. "Hold My Heart" was a beautifully written song about her hesitation to let go of a former love, which sounded similar to a slower ballad that Alicia Keys would belt out. Her natural talents for singing and songwriting are well reflected in this new album, which took 6 months to produce, and hopefully will end up as one of the classics like her influences Sarah Mclachlan and Norah Jones.  Favorite tracks on this album include “Uncharted”, “The Light”, and “Not Alone”.

Her album is now available in local stores, as well as for download off iTunes or Amazon (which also comes with a digital booklet in pdf format). Overall, it’s worth the download.

She will also be heading to Tempe this month on September 30th and set to perform at the Marquee Theater, which is sure to be a phenomenal performance live.
