It appears that the reigning Royal Rumble winner will not be able to defend his title at the 2012 PPV. According to a Monday December 26th report by WWE.com, Del Rio has suffered a torn groin and will be out 4 to 6 weeks, most likely the latter. Del Rio, made an appearance on Monday Night RAW from Chicago, Illinois and told the WWE Universe the extent of his injury. However, Del Rio declared that he will be back more aggressive than ever.
And do it begins, the new aggressive personality of Del Rio. Over the last few weeks, reports have come out that WWE officials were not confident in The Miz or Alberto Del Rio being the top heel and carrying RAW. However, Vince McMahon believes in Del Rio and feels that he has the look and size to be that top heel. But, Vince wants Del Rio to be more aggressive in the ring and lose some of his non-aggressive lucha libre style.
I wouldn't be surprised if Del Rio made it back for the Rumble in late January. It all depends on how well he recovers from this injury. When he does return, I fully expect him to "attack" a few WWE RAW superstars and be interjected back into the WWE title picture.
