Pro BMX racer from Cochrane, Alberta, Karsten Millman, has avoided the cold weather of Canada by moving to Las Vegas to train this winter. Heading south of the border is one way to ensure year round riding and competition and is important for young racers attempting to make a name for themselves. Millman, a pro of three years, recently hooked up with Elite BMX in Airdrie and will receive training programs designed by Rachelle Haight, National #1 20" title holder. The website is worth checking out: Elite Training Source.
Millman is attending the National I.D. camp in Phoenix this week. The camp was open to only eight riders with proven abilities and Supercross track experience.
The Canadian BMX athletes have converged on Speedworld BMX in Surprise, Arizona for a five day training camp with Canada's National Team head coach, provincial coaches, and other Canadian BMX athletes.
An opportunity of a lifetime in a year before the Olympics, the athletes chosen for this camp have a chance to be invited to Chula Vista for the National Team camp in March. Athletes selected for the I.D. camp in Phoenix had to pay for their own flight and ground transportation as well as pay $675 for the track time, accomodations and training.
Karsten has taken his game to another level this year and it sounds like he means business. Anyone that knows him can assure you that he is one of the coolest pros you could meet and he is always a great role model for youngsters at the track.
