Victory Christian Church hosts a rally to bring attention to the increased violence in one of its nearby cities. A call to "Stop the Violence" will result in prayer gatherings and a "Stop the Violence Walk and Safe City Initiative."
The prayer was held Thursday night and the walk on Saturday. Victory Church will join with Stop the Violence Walk organizers to begin to unite community to help stop the violence that has increased in the Lansingburgh section of Troy.
The event will feature family members of victims for the purpose of sending a message of hope and to get the community together in rallying against such violent activity. It is in response to a recent double homicide and increased danger to mail carriers who recently have announced they will have police escorts for random route carriers.
The free event will feature music, food free bike repair, a water slide, bounce houses, and free giveaways of bikes and school supplies. It is sponsored by donations from local businesses.
Victory Church believes through prayer unity and community effort this violence can be stopped. Victory Church started in Albany over 18 years ago by Pastor Charlie Muller and they often get involved in community events and worthy causes. They now have three locations in the Capital District.
