June “Mama” Shannon just posted the fabulous news on the official Honey Boo Boo Facebook page ran by Mama and her friend, Bobbie on March 5. A photo was uploaded showing Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson decked out in a yellow Girl Scouts of America troop shirt and orange hoop earrings. The caption reads, “Official Girl Scout! She’s so excited to be in the troop :).” The pageant queen is also sporting her signature smile.
Last week, Honey Boo Boo was under fire for using her Facebook page to sell Girl Scout cookies for a friend in McIntyre, Georgia. The scouts caught wind of the situation after parents starting complaining about the sheer volume of fans Alana had on her Facebook page. It is also against the Girl Scout rules to use social media and one cannot sell outside their territory. June, who replied back that they were merely trying to help out a friend, who comes from a small town with people who can’t afford to spend money on cookies, and felt that the rules were outdated and unfair. She also stated she would continue to help the troop by selling cookies.
Shannon was speaking the truth. Sunday March 3, Honey Boo Book and the rest of the Boo Boo clan headed to the Milledgeville mall to help the troop sell cookies. Those who purchased five boxes or more were allowed to pose for photos with Alana. It was great to see the photos that circulated the internet with Honey Boo Boo and her fans. This time she was using her popularity for the greater good and still following the Girl Scout rules.
