Expect plenty of Pink Floyd fans to flock to the Rock Hall later this month when engineer, musician and producer Alan Parsons is the featured guest for the Hall's Legends Series event.
You may remember Parsons as the creator of the Alan Parsons Project. He's churned out at least a dozen albums. The song "Eye in the Sky" received heavy radio play in the early 1980's along with "Games People Play", and "Time".
Sports fans who might not be music buffs have probably heard Parsons the most in arenas worldwide. "Sirius", an instrumental, is still played by the Chicago Bulls as the team is introduced and it was used most recently in the last SuperBowl for the victorious New Orleans Saints. Trust me, even if you don't know it by name--you've heard it.
But, to Pink Floyd fans it was Parsons work as an engineer on the band's legendary "Dark Side of the Moon" album in the early 1970's that launced his career as a producer and musician.
Prior to working with Pink Floyd, Parsons worked as an assistant engineer on the last two Beatles albums. He started working at Abbey Road Studios when he was 19 years old. He also worked with the Hollies, Al Stewart and Ambrosia among others.
Got a question for Alan Parsons? Get to the Rock Hall on September 18th. But you need to RSVP first by emailing edu@rockhall.org or if you do not have access to email, please call 216.515.8426.
