The Charlotte Music Awards named Alan Barrington the winner of the Singer-Songwriter showcase held Saturday evening at Easy Eddies in Huntersville. A special judging panel of NSAI songwriters featuring guest country performer Kenny Lee assessed the performances at this showcase. The event was held in conjunction with a CMA sponsored "Music Cares" fundraiser for the Nashville flood victims. This was the second singer-songwriter showcase of 2010 with the Cate & John Cloer being the winners of the first showcase held in February.
Winner, Alan Barrington, was the first performer of the showcase event sharing several of his original songs including Southern Country Blues and Mistletoe. Congratulations to this very talented local singer-songwriter - this is much deserved recognition!
Other local talent in the singer-songwriter showcase included Jamie Kay, Jamie Purnell, Caroline Keller, Lucinda Lucas, Jeff Luckadoo, and the James-Younger Gang.
In addition to Alan, special recognition needs to go out to Caroline Keller who wow'ed the audience with her vocals and to Jeff Luckadoo who's original music and country vocals were also a crowd favorite!
In addition to the showcase performances, Sara Scott took the stage with her full band. Local singer-songwriter David Lambert rocked the house with his unique country-rock style. Young pop band Lyra Shines performed as well. The rock band Dogwood took top honors among the bands performing this evening.
All of these performers are very talented and we here in Charlotte are blessed to have them entertaining local crowds at local venues! As we support live music, they support us in rounding out our cultural experience.
Congratulations to Alan Barrington for this truly deserved recognition of his lovely ballads and wonderful voice!! Alan will perform at the CMA Red Carpet event held at the end of the year.
Thanks to Jeff Cheen, Julia Dixon and the rest of the crew at the Charlotte Music Awards for a wonderful night of music supporting a worthy cause!
