In Sing Your Song, Belafonte along with some of his contemporaries, acting greats Diahann Carroll and Sidney Poitier recount the actor’s early life, his entertainment career and transformation into a social activist who shared his voice and celebrity to many causes; like the American Civil Rights Movement and the fight against South Africa’s apartheid. The documentary opened in select theaters earlier this year but first aired on the HBO network last October. It has gone on to become an official selection of the Sundance, SXSW, and Tribeca Film Festivals as well as many others.
