Is Nick Saban NFL-bound? Well that seems to be all the buzz right now as fans in Alabama don't want to see the living legend make the jump back to the pro ranks. Only time will tell if Saban is true to his word that he is staying put in Tuscaloosa, but by his press conference in Miami, all signs point to a long run with the Tide.
Now that Alabama has flexed its muscle by winning back-to-back BCS titles and captured their third Championship in four years, the buzz on talk radio around the nation today, Jan. 9, was interesting.
The questioned was posed, "Could the Tide beat a NFL team?" That answer is easy.
No, never. Sorry.
Come on guys, don't take away from what Alabama has done so well by asking such a ludicrous question!
Back in November, South Carolina Gamecocks head football coach Steve Spurrier told "The Dan Patrick Show" that he feels Alabama could compete against some professional teams.
Now the question has been asked once again, just for fun of course. However I would have to disagree with Spurrier's thoughts from earlier this season.
Sure it makes good conversation, and Alabama is the most dominate team in college right now.
The Tide haven't even been challenged in their three championship games, winning all three titles by more than two touchdowns, but let's not lose our heads here when it comes to putting them up against an NFL squad.
Just for example, if Alabama played even one of the worst teams in 2012 like the Detroit Lions or Arizona Cardinals, they would be at least a 21 point underdog, if not more. That spread could be 30 points or more vs. teams like New England, Green Bay and Denver.
It's not a knock on Bama at all; it's just that the NFL is on a whole different level of competition.
So what do you think football fans? Is there a team in the pros that Alabama could beat?
