Many leftist would have you believe that conservatism is a male dominated movement. Nothing could be further from the truth. Alabama's conservative women have a voice and something important to say about the state of the nation. Now they have a vehicle by which they can make their voices heard loud and proud.
Enter Smart Girl Politics and the dawning of a new era of conservative activism. It is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization for conservative women; dedicated to educating and training America's growing grassroots movement. Conservative columnist Michelle Malkin called SGP the "Founding Sisters of the Tea Party Movement" in September 2009.
It's founder and President Stacy Mott was fed up with just complaining about politics and started to blog to vent her frustrations over the 2008 elections. She and co-founder Teri Christoph founded Smart Girl Politics Action in December 2008.They filed for 501 (c)(4) non-profit status and incorporated as Smart Girl Politics Action in March 2009. It has become a major social network for over 40,000 conservative women.
They have become a loud voice of reason for limited government, lower taxes, and personal responsability. Their objective- get more women involved in the political process as both activists and candidates. They are growing in numbers on a daily basis and are truly an important asset to the conservative movement.
SGP's stated mission is to:
- Engage: We will provide the opportunity and environment to facilitate the exchange of ideas on a local, state, and national level.
- Educate: We will educate women to understand basic party structures and how they can get involved in their community, choose to be leaders in their own communities, and provide them with the tools necessary to apply, run, and win an elected position.
- Empower: We will build a community of activists who empower one another to stand up for their conservative beliefs. Defend the right of conservative women to share their voice, their opinions, and their right to serve their country in any capacity they so choose. We will give them a voice in the party system which allows their beliefs and principles to be heard.
A simple and well defined mission designed to move conservative women to the forefront of issues important to them. Alabamians can get involved on Facebook and Twitter. Volunteering is a simple task so get involved.
A successful organization relies on its members, their special abilities, and individual talents. Smart Girl Politics has several teams where members can use their skills to work for their state and the nation:
- Policy Research Committee (weekly communication through e-mails) Their goal is to provide members with up to date information on core issues (Energy, Health and Wellness, and Education). They research the days hot topics for use on blogs, their website, their magazine Smart Girl Nation, and for their leaders to use in planning their issues advocacy.
- Membership Recruitment (meets monthly) to discuss ways to boost membership. Ideas are submitted monthly for possible implementation.
- Candidate Endorsement (meets monthly) to follow House and Senate campaigns across the country. They compile background packets on candidates for possible endorsement.
- Voter Registration Committee trains volunteers.

She like many Alabama conservatives was "so disillusioned with not only the voters who refused to question the belief system of the man elected President, but also with the GOP for becoming so weak and disjointed.
