The Alabama Crimson Tide lost Vinnie Sunseri to an ACL tear during the first quarter of Saturday’s game against the Arkansas Razorbacks. On Monday, Nick Saban confirmed to the media that Sunseri will undergo left knee surgery and will be out for the remainder of the season.
Vinnie Sunseri is a main cog in the Alabama secondary and had two touchdowns in the first two games of the year. His second touchdown against Texas A&M was memorable because he made the reigning Heisman winner, Johnny Manziel miss a tackle en route to the end zone.
Just as Alabama got Ha Ha Clinton-Dix back from a two game suspension, the defensive backfield took another hit. Though Sunseri is out for the season, all hope is not lost for Alabama. Since the Texas A&M game, Alabama has had two shutouts and they’ve only given up 16 points.
CBSsportsline.com reports that Vinnie Sunseri was just named to the Midseason All-American team. Yet, they have a five star recruit replacing him. Landon Collins will move into the safety position when Alabama takes on Tennessee.
