The citizens of Alabama were duped into passing the Forever Wild Amendment in 1992. The Forever Wild fiasco is slowly draining away land in Alabama in accordance to the United Nations Agenda 21 program. It is a nothing more than a re-wilding scheme to return nature to nature. It contradicts the American ideal of property rights.
Alabama is facing a serious budget crunch with the state looking for ways to control spending. We do not have money to simply throw away. We arrived at our current budget deficit via the wasteful spending of out of control intrusive government. Forever Wild is an prime example of such intrusive government siphoning off funding.
Two questions that need to be answered are: Who is reaping the profits of Forever Wild and What are the people of Alabama not being told about it? If no action is taken to stop it, the Forever Wild program will rerceive approxiamately $4 million a year. That's 2 1/2% of all future incoming trust fund money just for maintenance expenses. What a monumental waste of money.
Our fiscally irresponsable Alabama leadership can use that money to purchase additional land (around 1,875 acres at a cost of $2,000 an acre) every year. How much land owned by the State of Alabama or any state is enough? Shouldn't the citizens be encouraged to own land also? Isn't property ownership a part of the American ideal anymore? It isn't to the collectivist minded people behind the Agenda 21 movement.
One of the problems with the Agenda 21 inspired financial blackhole; known as Forever Wild is it's adverse effects on Alabama's cash strapped tax base and taxpayers. A side effect conveniently omitted from the 1992 ballot measure. None of the ever growing Forever Wild tracts of land pay property taxes. Every acre the State of Alabama acquires is removed from the rolls. Fewer and fewer property owners are picking up the tab of an artificial shortfall. fewer taxes mean more cuts to police and fire protection.
Governor Bentley talks about the state cutting funding to Alabama State Parks. These areas are already open to citizens bringing much needed tourism dollars to out economy. The protection and management of these areas serve Alabama. There are plenty of public properties enjoyed by taxpayers in Alabama. Why are these areas being shortchanged to fund Forever Wild with restrictions on use?
The Forever Wild con job began in 1992; with it being pushed as a 20 year program that would be re-evaluated. The money would go back into the Alabama Trust Fund. The amendment itself states: "...providing that after the state's 2011-12 fiscal year revenues directed to said land trust shall be paid to the Alabama Trust Fund, with the exception of 2.5% of such revenues needed to continue funding of the stewardship account or as provided by the Legislature."
No re-evaluation has been done. Why hasn't it been done? Why is there such a hell bent push to re-authorize it a year early? What's the rush? The State of Alabama is in an economic crisis. Forever Wild is is a non-essential program that needs to be scrapped. Montgomery needs to get our economic house in order; not be participating in a United Nations land grab.
Hunters and hunting are used as a pushing point for Forever Wild's eco-extremist agenda. There are currently around 6,000 private hunting clubs leasing hunting rights on private property in Alabama. Property owners hunt on their own land. Hunters don't need this land baron scheme.
Properties and easements owned or controlled by the Forever Wild Trust are used as collateral for bond sales. These same properties are being used as assets by the State of Alabama to improve their bond rating. This land allegedly set aside for future generations is being mortgaged away. Something smells rather fishy and afoul in Montgomery.
Senator Bradford was told that the Forever Wild (check out Agenda 21) had provided 224 miles of new trails to Alabama. Yet only 30 miles are associated with hiking/ backpacking. What's going on with the other 194 miles of trails? Doesn't quite fit the definition of open to the public; but fits the "no humans allowed" Agenda 21 program.
Page 384 "Recalibrating the Law of Humans with the Laws of Nature: Climate Change, Human Rights, and Intergenerational Justice" published by the Vermont Law School states; "In the contemporary period, the concept of a trust has surfqaced in both international and domestic law. The UN Framework Convention on Climate Change holds that one of it's key principles is that state parties will work for the "benefit of present and future generations. In U.S. law, several state constitutions have explicitly established a trusteeship. The Alabama Constitution, for example, creates the "Forever Wild Land Trust" and declartes that it is the policy of the state to protect "certain lands and waters of Alabama with a full recognition that this generation is a trustee of the environment for succeeding generations.""
Pages 10 and 11 of "Models for Protecting the Environment for Future Generations" was published by the International Human Rights Clinic at Harvard Law School states nearly verbatim the same thing. Forever Wild is an offshoot of the UN Agenda 21 land grab scheme. Your property rights as a citizen of Alabama are under attack. Tell every Alabama legislator that enough is enough and to cut all funding of Forever Wild.
They've purchased nearly 222,000 acres, have a maintenance fund of $24 million, and $15 million available to buy more land. They are asking for an additional $300 million. Enou8gh is enough of the waste.
