Ala. hostage standoff ends in suspect's death, boy's freedom

In a breaking news announcement on Monday, Feb. 4, it was being reported that the Ala. hostage suspect is dead and the boy he held in captivity has been freed.

Citing an unnamed law enforcement source, Greta Van Susteren says that "Initial reports indicate the 5-year-old-boy held hostage in an Alabama bunker is free and his kidnapper is dead, a law enforcement source tells Fox News."

The child is in stable condition, and the suspect Jimmy Lee Dykes, aged 65, is being reported dead by several news agencies, including ABC News, although details about the fatal ending to the week-long hostage situation are not known yet.

The suspect had a criminal history, which included an arrest for marijuana possession in 2000, and his neighbors have cited unusual violent tendencies since he moved onto the property used this year in his hostage standoff situation.
