Al Yankovic continues to keep it weird

Weird Al Yankovic released his new album “Mandatory Fun” today. The iconic cover photo features Weird Al in clothing resembling a soldier. This speaks to his use of the phrase “mandatory fun,” which is an oxymoron, unfortunately used sometimes by military groups. His comedic music is available for purchase here, on Amazon, and on iTunes.

He started pre-gaming his celebration by releasing the music video for “Tacky” yesterday. Watch that video here. As you can see, it's a campy style of highlighting all things considered tacky and a fun parody of “Happy” by Pharrell Williams. Cameos from comedians include Aisha Tyler, Margaret Cho, Eric Stonestreet, Kristen Schaal and Jack Black. You will love the dancing, the lyrics and the ridiculous clothing.

Our favorite lines from “Tacky”:

43 bumber stickers and a “YOLO” license plate
(Because I'm tacky)
Bring along my coupon book whenever I'm on a date
(Because I'm tacky)
Practice my twerking moves in line at the DMV
(Because I'm tacky)
Took the whole bowl of restaurant mints. Hey, it said they're free”

He made the music video for “Word Crimes” public today. It's a lyric video that focuses on the rules of grammar. It took the controversial song “Blurred Lines” and made it akin to something you might have seen in school if you were around for the “Schoolhouse Rock!” series. This is way catchier than “Conjunction Junction.” You can visit Weird Al's official website every day for the next 6 days to catch the rest of the new videos, each day.

Track's include:

“Handy”- (parody of “Fancy” by Iggy Azalea)
“Lame Claim to Fame”
“Foil”- (parody of “Royals” by Lorde)
“Sports Song”
“Word Crimes”- (parody of “Blurred Lines” by Robin Thicke)
“My Own Eyes”
“NOW That's What” I Call polka!”- (various parodies)
“Mission Statement”
“Inactive”- (parody of “Radioactive” by Imagine Dragons)
“First World Problems”
“Tacky”- (parody of “Happy” by Pharrell Williams)
“Jackson Park Express”

Based on popularity ratings on iTunes: “Foil”, “Inactive”, and “NOW That's What I Call Polka” are tracks that are likely candidates for the next videos to surface. Also, look out for “First World Problems.” Amanda Palmer hinted on Twitter that she sang back-up for one of the songs on “Mandatory Fun” and we believe this song matches her vocal sound.
