Pacino was promoting his films "The Humbling" and "Manglehorn" during the festival and though some may feel most A-List actors may look down upon non-Oscar winning films, Pacino indeed gave credence to the Gunn Film. He had been comparing the business of Hollywood of yesteryear to today's standards and according to him he is not actually aware of the purpose Hollywood.
He has been well known in "The Godfather" series of films along with other popular titles and to him even give mention to the Marvel Studios film speaks volumes. Though the movie had even made an impact on autistic child recently as the young fan was able to relate to Drax the Destroyer's inability to understand metaphors.
"I don’t have much to say about Hollywood because basically a movie is a movie, a film is a film. I don’t know it, and I never did know what Hollywood does. Apparently, it’s in LA. I just saw Guardians Of The Galaxy… It was amazing. I did find it the most entertaining, inventive, beautiful film. So I’m not anti-that at all.”
Both Gunn and Groot voiceover actor Vin Diesel had been spreading the word for good causes online in regards to the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge to give back to environment by planting a tree for Groot. Gunn had been hoping to make an impact by delivering what he's been trying to in the film towards the audience by accomplishing a task most directors have a hard time dealing with. It was a goal he had been truly desiring to accomplish.
