Akroan Horse is one of the newest "Theros" spoilers revealed today Sept. 10, 2013 from Wizards of the Coast's upcoming expert "Magic: The Gathering" expansion set in an article by Bruce Richard on DailyMtg.com. This rare artifact creature is silly and fun to play with.
Akroan Horse - 4
Artifact Creature - Horse (Rare)
When Akroan Horse enters the battlefield, an opponent gains control of it.
At the beginning of your upkeep, each opponent puts a 1/1 white Soldier creature token onto the battlefield.
Clearly the Trojan Horse had no influence whatsoever on the flavor or design of Akroan Horse. Oh, wait.
Akroan Horse is a gift for your opponent that will come back to haunt them. It's like giving somebody you dislike a fruit cake for the holidays: Nobody wants this and it's likely to get re-gifted. Sure, your adversary gets an 0/4 blocker. In return though, you'll receive a 1/1 white Soldier creature token during each of their upkeeps. After several turns you'll be able to overwhelm your opponent's defenses. Akroan Horse may not be as quick at swarming your rival compared to Assemble the Legion, however as an artifact it can be played in any colored deck.
Akroan Horse makes a fantastic addition to any Commander deck abusing Zedruu, the Greathearted. Because it says "each opponent" everyone except the player you dislike will get a creature token each turn, and you'll also gain life and draw a card thanks to your commander. Akroan Horse is the "gift" that keeps on giving.
How will you use Akroan Horse?
