“Akiba’s Trip: Undead & Undressed” takes place in Tokyo’s Akihabara electronic’s district (Akiba), considered “paradise” for otaku. All is not well in Akiba however, it has been invaded by creatures called “Synthisters”, who prey on anime and game otaku, similarly to vampires, feasting on their social energy and will to live, instead of their blood.

To battle back this menace, players take on the role of Nanashi, who was transformed into one of the walking undead. Using their handy in-game smartphone app, players must identify the “Synthisters” in their human form and strip them of their clothing using everyday objects as weapons, because the only way to destroy them is by exposing them to direct sunlight of course. Once enough stripping experience has been gained, the enemies’ unique clothing items will be able to be claimed by players for their personal use.

The game will also have the added benefit of both English and Japanese voiceover options. To learn more about the game, you can visit the newly launched official site. New PlayStation 4 and Vita screenshots from “Akiba’s Trip: Undead & Undressed” can be found in the slideshow on the left.

XSEED Games will release “Akiba’s Trip: Undead & Undressed” digitally, via the PlayStation Store, and physically for both the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita beginning on August 12, 2014 for $39.99. The PlayStation 4 version was confirmed today and is scheduled for a release this holiday season, but the publisher stated that any further details about the release will be unveiled at a later time.
