Released last November in Japan, "Akiba's Trip 2" takes place in Akihabara, Tokyo’s popular electronics district. The Japanese district has been infested by blood-sucking creatures called "Synthisters" that prey on its otaku visitors and it's your job as the nameless protagonist to stop them. To do this, you must expose the Synthisters to sunlight during the day, similarly to vampires. Not so similarly to vampires (or Twilight at least), the method in doing so is stripping the Synthisters' clothes off and using their garments for yourself. Players use an in-game smartphone to identify the Synthisters from regular humans and over 130 real life Akihabara shops can be visited in the game. Thanks to Siliconera, here's the official story synopsis from XSEED.
Akiba’s Trip: Undead & Undressed tells the story of a young man named Nanashi who was lured into a trap and transformed into one of the walking undead. Lucky enough to be spared the worst of his fate by the kiss of a mysterious Synthister hunter named Shizuku, Nanashi is sworn to rid Akihabara of the Synthister threat. Together with the rest of his companions in an organization unofficially dubbed the “Akiba Freedom Fighters,” Nanashi and Shizuku must uncover the truth behind the Synthister plague and save Akiba from being overrun by their kind.
According to XSEED's Falcom Hatsuuen, the PS3 and PS Vita release of "Akiba’s Trip: Undead & Undressed" will be physical and digital. The game will have Japanese audio, but an English track is being considered. Finally, all the licensed products in the Japanese version will be present in the North American version. "Akiba’s Trip: Undead & Undressed" will arrive this summer for the PS3 and the PS Vita. A teaser trailer is available to view.
