This invitation-only event showcases some of the best dogs in the world and through a series of interviews Examiner readers will have an opportunity to “meet” some of the competitors.

Examiner:How did you get started in dogs?
Wendy McCance: I have had dogs my entire life.

Examiner:How did you decide on the breed that you currently have?
Wendy McCance: I have always loved the sporting breeds and the Labrador is very versatile and a great companion. The Dalmatian has similar characteristics in its versatility as a working dog and a companion, and they have an affinity for horses, my other passion.

Examiner: What's the one thing you know now that you wish you knew when you were starting in dogs?
Wendy McCance: I wish I had known all the different activities available for human and animal participation. I had no idea when I was a child with a pet dog.

Examiner:What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?
Wendy McCance: The right dog is out there; continue your search until you get the dog you know is the right dog.

Examiner: What is your biggest regret?
Wendy McCance: I didn’t start competition with dogs sooner.

Examiner: What is your biggest accomplishment?
Wendy McCance: Finding the Labrador that had an instant connection to my mother and he took care of her until she passed away.

Examiner: What does going to the AKC Eukanuba National Championship mean to you?
Wendy McCance: It was a great opportunity to see and appreciate beautiful dogs in all breeds and meet lots of nice folks.

Examiner: What makes the AKC Eukanuba National Championship different than any other dog shows for you and your dogs?
Wendy McCance: Seeing all the invited dogs in a number of different venues. This is so much more than a conformation show.

Examiner: If you could leave a note on the kitchen table for future generations what would it say?
Wendy McCance: If you love it, find a way to do it, and never say later.
