The 12-year-old gelding AJ Cress scored a career triumph when he posted victory number fifty on June 18 at Northfield Park.

Steered by owner-trainer Mark Headworth of Oregon, Ohio to a 1:57.4 clocking, this son of Village Connection pushed his career earnings to $119,323 with his nose victory.

The classy veteran has 339 career starts, winning 50 times, with 54 seconds and 64 third-place finishes to his credit. His last victory came on March 29 at Cleveland half-miler, when he posted a 2:00.2 clocking in a win that he also won by a nose decision.

AJ Cress has raced consistently from age three to the present, and took a lifetime mark of 1:55.3 at Northfield Park as a 9-year-old.

His 50 victories have come in three states on nine different raceways.

His best season came in 2009, when he won scored six wins, second seconds and ten thirds from 40 seasonal starts, earning $14,947 and taking a mark of 1:57s as a 7-year-old.
