Gaius Charles is saying goodbye to the ABC hit medical drama “Grey’s Anatomy” after this season. According to a report by Entertainment Weekly on March 25, the actor who plays resident Shane Ross will not have his contract picked up by the show next season.

Charles is not alone in departing the show. Actress Tessa Ferrer who plays resident Leah Murphy will also not be back. Both Gaius and Ferrer will join long-time regular Sandra Oh in leaving the show. It is unclear as to how either of the characters will leave the show.

Charles joined the show last season along with Ferrer and actresses Camilla Luddington and Jerikka Hinton, adding some new blood to “Grey’s Anatomy”. The show could be open for future guest appearances. With Isaiah Washington returning in a guest role, anything is possible for the long running prime time drama series.
