According to the Colorado Springs Gazette, Airman Czachery Rike pleaded guilty this week to numerous crimes, including possessing and distributing pornographic pictures of toddlers, exposing his genitals to a teenage girl via electronic communications technology and trying to strangle his wife. A fourth charge of forcible sodomy against an adult was dropped by pretrial agreement, the Gazette reported. 30-year-old Rike, a senior Airman, served as a firefighter with the 21st Civil Engineer Squadron at Peterson Air Force Base.

A press release from the Colorado Springs Police Department states that Rike's January 7, 2013, arrest was one of twelve in a little more than a month and a half that was based on a multi-agency investigation that began in May, 2012. The Department's Internet Crimes Against Children Division partnered with the Department of Homeland Security, the Air Force Office of Special Investigations and other federal agencies during the investigation that looked into suspicions that child pornography was being distributed in Colorado Springs via peer-to-peer networks.

Rike's arrest came after a search warrant was served at his home on Peterson Air Force Base. During that search, several items of digital media were collected. Rike was released from the El Paso County Jail four days after his arrest on a $10,000 bond, the Gazette reported.

Rike acquired more than 400 pornographic images between 2012 and 2013, the Gazette reported. Some of those images depicted children as young as 4 years old. He also engaged in an online relationship with a minor from Georgia who he knew to be 13 or 14, reported the Gazette, and that relationship involved sharing pictures of himself in his firefighter uniform with his genitals exposed.

In May, he was ordered by a commander to be held at the Teller County Jail after it was discovered that he had violated orders not to use computers or have contact with minors. He reportedly purchased a tablet computer and contacted a teenage girl, after having received in-patient sex addiction treatment in Arizona and continuing to receive treatment after returning to Colorado Springs.

Rike reported violently attacking his wife when she confronted him about his use of pornography, the Gazette reported. He faces more than 102 years for the charges against him, but a pretrial agreement will likely have him serving a lesser sentence.
