Creating a GPS-enabled golf app is pretty easy. You have a course in a defined area, and the app comes right from that. Creating a GPS-enabled golf app that golfers will actually use is a completely different story.
Golfers are a picky bunch, but if you provide them with a product that is easy to use and has a chance to either improve their play or enhance their golf experience, you have a winner.
The La Costa Champions and Legends Course apps developed with Best Approach do just that.
Located in Carlsbad, California, Omni La Costa Resort and Spa has been one of the top golf, spa, and vacation destinations in North America since 1965. It's only fitting they set the pace when it comes to offering iOS and Android app for both of its newly renovated championship courses.
Per the Omni La Costa Resort and Spa, here are what the Champions and Legends apps offer.
La Costa Champions Course
The La Costa Champions Course App includes a GPS enabled yardage guide, tee time booking, course information and more. La Costa has completed a major $10 million re-design of its famed Dick-Wilson designed courses. Golfers will be greeted by the all new Champions Course (previously the North Course). More definition and contrast has been added to the course with native grasses, colorful landscaping, tee boxes, landscaping bridges, fairways and greens, wetlands and rerouted paths. Additionally, the new golf course is family friendly, with all new family tees.
La Costa Legends Course
Following the completion of a comprehensive renovation in 2013, the new Legends Course at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa has returned to "center stage" at the iconic destination. While embracing the integrity of the original Dick Wilson design, which challenged the greatest names in the game for more than 40 years, the new Legends layout has recaptured Omni La Costa's timeless appeal. The multifaceted makeover of the Legends Course includes a complete reconstruction and redesign of all 18 greens, as well as a thorough resurfacing of tee complexes, all new bunkering and the planting of paspalum turfgrass in the fairways.
Here's all you need to know- both apps work and work well. As long as your phone service has a "bar" you can take advantage of these apps as you stroll through both courses. The images and graphics on the app are as stunning as the courses themselves.
Part of the fun of playing a great golf course and particularly a course that is new to you is getting background information on the course and seeing it on your phone or tablet while you are actually playing the track.
You get that with La Costa's two apps.
If you are heading for La Costa in 2014, and you should be, download these free apps and aim for the pins.
