Ailey II Performs at Winston-Salem State university

Ailey II, an extension of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater will be performing on Wednesday, March 6 in the K.R. Williams Auditorium on the campus of Winston-Salem State University. The performance will take place from 7:30 to 9:30 and will include the pieces The External Knot, Rusty and Revelations.

Ailey II was founded in 1974 and is currently under the direction of Troy Powell. The main company was founded in 1958 by Alvin Ailey and included a group of young African-American dancers. Much of the pieces are rooted in spirituals and gospel music. Since it's creation the company has toured internationally and performed for over 23 million people.

Tickets can be purchased at the Winston-Salem State box office by visiting between 11 am and 5 pm or by calling 336-750-3220.
