The organizers of the event at AIGA took great lengths to ensure that brewers and artists across the area were able to be involved in this first ever collaboration. At the initial Beer & Branding event on July 7th, local designers were paired with home brewers to design a branding package for a beer based on the secret ingredient, basil.
Beer was judged on August 9th at NoDa Brewing Company, by impartial judges in a people’s choice style judging. Thai Me Up Honey, a 10.5% honey basil ale brewed with Thai basil and Thai chilies, brewed by Stephen Williams, was chosen as the winning beer, and was also honored as this week’s NoDable Series feature. This sweet and spicy ale was awesome!
Last nights’ showcase event also featured the work by Queen City designers, who worked behind the scenes with brewers to create branding packages specific to the beers the brewers concocted. AIGA organizers would like to thank all of the designers and brewers who participated and made both events such a success. Make sure to check out the slide show of all the entries.
