One of Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi's top deputies claims that the Holocaust never occurred, according to a Fox News story on Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013. Fathi Shihab-Eddim, whose duties include appointing the editors of all Egyptian newspapers, blames the United States with actually pulling the whole thing off. Supposedly, he claims, the U.S. moved 6 million Jews to the U.S. and they were never killed in the concentration camps.
President Morsi himself had previously stated that Jews are “the descendants of apes and pigs.” According to Fox News, Efraim Zuroff, Israel Director of the Jerusalem-based Simon Weisenthal Center explained:
“Obviously, if a person in that position makes that ridiculous claim it is of concern," Zuroff said. "The sad truth is that these views are relatively common in the Arab world and are the result of ignorance on one hand and of government-sponsored Holocaust denial on the other hand.”
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has long espoused the view that the Holocaust was only a myth. You can read about that on CBS.
President Obama just announced last week that he would be providing fighter jets to Egypt, which has prompted questions from many entities. Palestine News Network has the story:
On Thursday 24th January, Israel's Channel 7 said that four F-16 fighter jets left the U.S. this morning, bound for Egypt as part of a foreign aid package agreement reached between the U.S. and Egypt.
This deal was made before the Muslim Brotherhood came into power. Many critics of the plan to give fighter jets to Egypt cite the ambiguous nature of President Morsi’s attitude toward the U.S. and Israel.
