The Chicago Maritime Festival at the Chicago History Museum, 1601 N. Clark St, Chicago. The good stuff starts at 10 AM, goes to 4:30, takes a dinner break, and the really big concert is at 7 PM. Led by the major domos, Chris and Tom Kastle, the lineup includes Bounding Main, Forebitter, Talitha MacKenzie, David Jones, Lee Murdock, David HB Drake, and the Old Town School Shanty Singers. $30 for an all-day pass. Chicgomaritimefestival.org.

Whitey O'Day's birthday celebration at the Irish Mill, 26592 Route 83, Mundelein. 9 PM. Whitey, you've had so many birthdays, and some poor people have had so few. Is that fair?

We wonder: if everyone who has a gig this week were to share this article on Facebook, how much wider would our exposure be? Maybe even a few more people would come out to hear the music. Just sayin'.
