Ahmad Bradshaw out against the Jacksonville Jaguars means the Indianapolis Colts will rely even more on Trent Richardson. Bradshaw is still trying to recover from a neck injury that he suffered in the second quarter against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 3. According to a report from Friday (Sept. 27), he hasn't been able to practice with the team all week.
This is exactly what fantasy football owners with Richardson wanted to hear. He played his first game for the Colts in Week 3, rushing for 35 yards and a touchdown against the very stingy 49ers. Now he will go up against a much weaker defense in Jacksonville and possibly be in line for some really nice numbers. He might have to split the carries with Donald Brown, but he will now be a primary part of the offense.
The choice is clear for fantasy football owners this week, as Bradshaw has to be taken out of lineups and Richardson becomes a must-start. The Jaguars give up 167 rushing yards per game and allow 5.2 yards per carry. That could possibly allow Richardson to have the best game of his career behind a nice Colts offensive line. Expecting 15 or more fantasy points from this week would not be a stretch at all. If he finds that success, the coaching staff might turn to him more when Bradshaw returns as well.
To sum it up, Ahmad Bradshaw is out for at least Week 4 and possibly longer, with Trent Richardson stepping into a heavier use role.
