The American Hockey League announced Monday that Admirals forward Colin Wilson has been named AHL Rookie of the Month... surprise, surprise. Twenty points in seventeen games sure deserves more than a pat on the back from coach Lane Lambert. Wilson is riding a five-game scoring streak coming into Tuesday's game vs. Texas, and now has a total of 25 points in the 33 games he's played with Milwaukee this season.
We know the kid can put the puck in the net, and that he wears the number 33, but how about a few fun facts about the Rookie of the Month to share with your friends over a cold one after the game...
- Wilson is a third generation NHLer. His grandfather, Jerry Wilson, had a brief stint with the 1956 Montreal Canadiens (also on that team was Maurice "Rocket" Richard, Bernie "Boom Boom" Geoffrion, and Jean Beliveau) before becoming the Winnipeg Jet's team doctor. His father, Carey Wilson, was selected #67 overall by the Chicago Blackhawks in 1980, and went on to play ten seasons in the NHL with the Calgary Flames, Hartford Whalers, and the New York Rangers. Carey now runs hockey Carey Wilson Hockey, which operates hockey developmental programs in Manitoba and Ontario, Canada.
- Colin is a 2006 graduate of Ann Arbor Huron High School, whose mascot is... a River Rat?
- He was a 2009 Hobey Baker finalist, along with teammate Matt Gilroy and Brad Thiessen from Northeastern. The award ultimately went to Gilroy.

Good for Colin! He has been an absolute beast lately.
Now get him up here to the big club!!!
I definetely agree 99, next time he gets the call from nashville I have a feeling we won't be seeing him in Milwaukee anymore. That's pretty cool that his grandpa and dad were NHL players too, must be the good genes!
