More about Dr. Melanie Joy
Dr. Joy is a Harvard-educated psychologist, professor of psychology and sociology at the University of Massachusetts, Boston, celebrated speaker. Author of numberous articles on psychology, animal protection, and social justice, she has been featured on programs including the BBC, National Public Radio, PBS, ABC Australia, and Good Morning Croatia, and in Slovenia's Jana, the Austrian Der Standard and the Italian Le Scienze. She has given her critically acclaimed carnism presentation across the United States as well as internationally., and is also the author of Strategic Action for Animals.
Dr. Joy was recently presented with the Institute of Jainology's Ahimsa Award at the House of Commons in London. This award, for which she was the eighth recipient, was a great honor -- previous recipients include the Dalai Lama and Nelson Mandela.
