The new "Marvel's Agents of SHIELD" TV series drew in a massive audience for the first episode, leaving fans and viewers to wonder what they'll have up their sleeves next. Among the major things fans seem to be wondering for any "Agents of SHIELD" spoilers in 2013 are which superheroes or villains might show up. There's already some hints at both, thanks to a Facebook post and upcoming plot synopsis. In addition, actor Clark Gregg's latest tweets also have stirred up intrigue for episode 2 of the ABC show.
The Comic Book Resources website noted on Sept. 30 about a potential spoiler ahead for the second episode set to air this coming Tuesday night which may bring a superhero into the mix. There's also some information out there suggesting a supervillian for an upcoming episode. For those who don't want to spoil the potential surprises, it's best to stop reading, otherwise continue on for the latest tidbits about the Marvel TV series.
The CBR website notes that in a recent 20-second promo posted on the "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." Facebook fan page, there is a shot of the S.H.I.E.L.D. logo, with the bird in the logo sporting an eye patch. That happens to correspond to the iconic eye patch worn by the most famous S.H.I.E.L.D. member, director Nick Fury. In the recent "Avengers" film and a few of the other Marvel movies, that role was played by actor Samuel L. Jackson. The 20-second promo also includes narration stating, "Don't risk the spoilers. Stay to the very end."
To further add to the intrigue, actor Clark Gregg (Agent Coulson) has been tweeting about the second episode as well, including a tweet that states:
"Just finished setting my [DVR] to record episode #2 of #agentsofSHIELD. All of it. Credits and all."
At the end of many of the Marvel films, there have been post-credits scenes, some of which involved Agent Coulson, and others involving Nick Fury. In the films preceding "The Avengers," they usually showed up to find one of the superheroes, or recruit one. It's unknown whether or not Nick Fury will play a part in future episodes, but this notion certainly has comic fans buzzing for episode 2 which is titled, "0-8-4."
Another potential spoiler appears to lie in episode 3, which will be called "The Asset" and airs on Tuesday, Oct. 8. In the synopsis for the episode, over at Futon Critic, it's noted that "brilliant scientist Dr. Franklin Hall is kidnapped." The agents attempt to locate him with the clock counting down against them.
What's noteworthy about the synopsis is that Franklin Hall is known as supervillain "Graviton" in the Marvel comics. Basically this character first showed up in the "Avengers" comics issue #158, and due to a miscalculation in an experiment he was conducting, he obtains the power to "mentally control gravity." After trying to hide the power, he becomes more intrigued by it and eventually puts on a costume to embrace his supervillain identity. It's unknown how far in depth "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." will go into this character's comic book path, but it certainly raises some interesting potential for the show as well as the future movies from Marvel.
"Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." airs each Tuesday night on ABC at 8 p.m. EST. In addition, episodes can be seen streaming online after they've aired at Hulu Plus and ABC.go.com website.
