It’s all connected – that’s one of the many reasons fans love everything Marvel. “Agents of SHIELD” begins filming next week, ready for more mysteries to be unveiled in the Marvel universe? Showrunners Maurissa Tancharoen and Jed Whedon, along with executive producer Jeffrey Bell, discussed the upcoming season Tuesday, with Zap 2 it.
“We’re starting production on our first episode next week, so that’s pretty fun,” Tancharoen tells the source. They went on to discuss how fans can expect to see a new Coulson. Fans know the agent (now Director) as “the kind of man to leave no man behind,” Tancharoen says. When we last saw Coulson though, he found it very hard to trust others.
Bell adds, “Coulson's not willing to trust people and not willing to bring people in, but having to because he doesn’t have as many resources.” Fury tasked Coulson to rebuild SHIELD, which I’m sure is easier said than done. Season 2 will be picking up with Coulson figuring out how to rebuild what has fallen apart. Whedon also chimes in that we will find the agents in “a bit of a pickle” when the second season kicks off.
When it comes to a relationship between Ward and Skye, fans seem to be divided. Bell says that half of the fans want to see them together, while the other half does not. From where we left off though, Skye has other issues to worry about – her father was revealed, plus she was injected with that alien blood, can’t be good.
Tancharoen teases, “Do we connect with ‘Agent Carter’? Do we connect with ‘Guardians’? Do we connect with anything else coming up?” Uhm, of course you do! You have to, it’s Marvel! The source says not to expect any movie-TV crossover to be as big as “The Winter Soldier” was though, but I’m sure there will be plenty of connections we can look forward to.
“Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD” Season 2 premieres on ABC on Tuesday, September 23. Stay tune for upcoming spoilers and images as production begins to film!
