According to Comic Book Resources on Jan. 8, actor Clark Gregg, who stars in ABC's "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.", finds that the new actor, Paul Rudd, to be perfect for Edgar Wright's "Ant-Man". Gregg even hopes Rudd joins him on the TV series and feels that its comparable to Robert Downey, Jr.'s selection for the "Iron Man" film.
“I hope [Rudd] does a lot of films with them and he comes onto our show".
Gregg also thinks that actors that weren't at first thought as the comic book hero type and now are surprisingly perfect, seems to be the mantra of Marvel Studios selection process. Somehow thinking outside the box wound up being a successful risk to Marvel.
“What’s great about Marvel is the kind of outside the box casting that they've done, starting with Robert who now seems so perfect, but I think was a little bit of a tough sell at the first moment,” he said. “People who you don’t associate initially with superhero movies is what works so well for Ant-Man, who’s so smart and has an intellect".
It appears that both film and TV is combining the Marvel Cinematic Universe and it wouldn't be surprising to possibly see the Ant-Man character some how make his appearance in the television series.
"Ant-Man" is scheduled to be released in theaters on July 31, 2015 and for those interested in seeing Gregg's recent works on TV, watch Marvel's "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D" every Tuesday night at 8 p.m. EST.
