'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' rumors: Adrianne Palicki joins show as Mockingbird

"Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." rumors reveal that Adrianne Palicki will join the season 2 cast. This "Agents of S.H.E.I.L.D" news is interesting because Palicki was once cast as Wonder Woman (a DC Comics character), but will now take on a Marvel character. According to a report from Entertainment Weekly on Tuesday (Aug. 19), her character in the show is known as Mockingbird. It's not an homage to "The Hunger Games" by any means, but she will try to hold her own in the same fashion.

She isn't the only new cast member for season 2 of the show, as they are also bringing in some other potentially interesting entities. Kyle MacLachlan was cast as Skye’s (Chloe Bennet) father and Lucy Lawless as S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Isabelle Hartly. MacLachlan is now best known for his turn on "Desperate Housewives" and Lawless for her years as Xena. It's likely that all three will play into the promos when they start running in September.

It has already been stated that Palicki will make her first episode appearance in October, where she will appear in the fifth episode of the season as Bobbi Morse (the real life persona of Mockingbird). Palicki is best known for her role of Tyra Collette on "Friday Night Lights" for a number of seasons. She has recently been seen on the big screen as Jaye in "G.I. Joe: Retaliation" and Toni Walsh in "Red Dawn." Now she is trying to up the ante when it comes to her action roles.

These "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." rumors have been met with mixed reactions on sites around the net, but that is pretty typical for any casting decision that has to do with comic books. Some fans will feel that she is perfect for the role and other fans will feel that she is miscast by the producers. The only thing to do at this point is to have some patience and wait for the first episode of season 2. That season premiere is scheduled for Sept. 23 on NBC.
