Skye gets kicked off the plane, but before she goes, FitzSimmons and Ward tell her to dodge her protective detail and to work on the case on her own. It is great to see Skye trying to do what she normally does, but with her bracelet getting in the way. Her solution? Dress up in regulation S.H.I.E.L.D. black and pretend to be Agent May. It is absolutely fantastic. Her charade as May provides some comedy to a very serious episode. Plus, having Skye on her own isn’t something we’ve seen since the pilot. It is interesting to watch her operate outside of S.H.I.E.L.D. again. Did Skye do a good job pretending to be May?

Coulson is taken by Centipede to a really creepy town complete with mannequins. The goal is to get Coulson to remember how he came back to life. Thankfully, the writers do provide some answers in this episode. Coulson’s first memory after his death is revealed to be a lie. Instead of being on a beach, he is on an operating table, begging to die. The writers reveal enough that the mystery is back in Tahiti. It has just been annoying rather than intriguing in previous episodes. It’s also interesting that Coulson is mostly keeping this to himself. He only opens up to one of the doctors who operated on him. Speaking of the doctor, it is great to hear from him what he thought of Coulson’s procedure, and he is able to provide a lot more insight than Coulson could dig up on his own. What are your thoughts on Coulson’s new insights?

Victoria Hand is back, and with her comes protocol. She always provides an interesting contrast to Coulson’s team. Victoria is by the book S.H.I.E.L.D., and she does not understand what’s so special about Coulson. She makes me wonder what other agents think of Coulson. Victoria’s presence causes our team to bond closer together, not truly trusting any other agent. What are your thoughts on Victoria?
