As it turns out, this episode features a villain that has already been mentioned on the show: centipede. The writers seem to expect viewers to be familiar with the Marvel world, even more so than just with The Avengers. If a viewer isn’t engrossed in the world, then they should still be able to follow the story. There needs to be more backstory given about this big bads that keep popping up. It isn’t enough to simply show a face or throw out a name. The writers need to spend more time debriefing the viewers. Do you agree?
Finally, the writers give more answers regarding the Skye mystery. There still are some confusions, however. Basically, Skye joined S.H.I.E.L.D. in order to find out who her parents are. All she has on them is a single file that had been redacted by S.H.I.E.L.D. This is definitely an unexpected mystery. She isn’t tagging along to try to get intel for The Rising Tide. Skye is looking for family. The writers will definitely need to start bringing up more of her backstory. What do you make of Skye’s secret?
While it is nice to have some answers about Skye, but it happens rather quickly. The writers should be focusing on establishing more of the team dynamic, and allowing some of the other characters have a moment like maybe Fitz, Ward or Simmons. There isn’t much known about them as compared to Melinda May, Coulson, and Skye. It would have been better if there was a focus on a different character in this episode or maybe just an overall group dynamic episode. Which character would you like to learn more about?
