The writers are going for a different type of episode set up. They are showing everyone’s point of view of what happened. It does take a minute to realize what is going on because at first it seems like the grenade caused a time loop. Once this confusion is resolved, the set up works nicely. It allows for lots of little twists and turns. Plus, the writers are able to give every character a moment to step up and command a storyline, which always doesn’t happen. What did you think of the episode set up?

What is nice about this episode is that there are different team groupings than normal. Sure, some only last a couple minutes, but Fitz and Skye, for instance, spend the majority of the episode working together. This allows for the writers to really play with the group dynamic, and it is fantastic. Coulson and Simmons? Absolutely hilarious and it is great that the writers throw in the bit about Simmon’s last failure at improvisation during undercover work. Right now, the Ward/May/Coulson situation is strange. It doesn’t read love triangle, but it is hard to figure out what to think of May’s relationship with both Ward and Coulson. What are your thoughts?

Here are quick thoughts on elsewhere in the episode. This episode sets the stage for exciting things to come. Skye reunites with Mike, and hopefully has already started to put the pieces together about where he is getting his orders. It will be interesting to see what role Mike plays in the grand scheme of things as Deathlok. Poor, poor, Skye. She gets shot twice, but she perseveres and manages to crawl to the door. It’s impressive. Does anyone else think that somehow Skye’s 084 status?
