In the last episode, Coulson and the rest of his group go under ground to try and find answers about Hydra while Garrett shows Ward gets to see all that Hydra can do.
In this week’s episode, titled “The Only Light in Darkness”, Ward works to get the information from Skye, while the rest of the group try and take down the man who tried killing Coulson’s love.
A mysterious man named Marcus Daniels (also known as Blackout) gets off a boat and kills a fisherman before stealing his boat.
The group look over Ward and ask him what happened. He tells him what happened about the take over, of course leading his part out of it. Coulson did not like the fact that Daniels escaped and is out on the run. He wants to leave with the group but Koenig says only if they pass the lie detector test. And this not your stereotypical test that you normally see. This chair is pretty much unbeatable which is going to spell bad news for Ward.
Ward is the last to go after the rest of them pass their tests. Ward uses the truth to hide his real agenda, plus a small sliver in his thumb.
Coulson takes Fitz, Simmons, and Tripp get ready to go after Daniels. He knows that Daniels is going after Audrey Nathan. `They know that the only way they can take him down is to consume him with so much energy he doesn’t know what to do with. May is angry with Coulson for going without her but it’s because he still doesn’t trust her.
Their first attempt at taking him down doesn’t go according to plan. It looks like the Fridge had been training Daniels to be better and stronger. The team is going to have to think of another way to take him down.
While talking with Audrey, they learn that she is the one that Coulson fell in love with and lost when he died. Fitz develops a weapon (using a formula used from Eric Banner aka The Hulk) they can use to take down Daniels, but they will need to use Audrey as bait, something that Coulson is completely against.
Ward begins his mission trying to get information from the flash drive with Skye without raising suspicion with Koenig.
May packs a bag and leaves. She gets picked up by her mother who has information about Maria who May wants to speak with (probably about TAHITI).
Skye hacks into NSDA and they use their satellites to try and find out the people who broke into the Fridge and escaped. Ward knows that time is running out to get what he wants from Skye. When he tries seducing the information from her, she finds blood on him and starts to get suspicious after he goes to clean up. She finds Koenig’s dead body and knows that Ward’s working for Hydra.
Ward takes Skye away claiming to help Fitz decode the hard drive and she figures out that that is why he came back to them.
May have left for now, but it’s doubtful she’s gone for good. She will probably return in time to try and help SHIELD against Hydra. Ward’s true identity is revealed and it’s going to rock the agents to the core when the rest of them find out as they find out that someone they trust was working for Hydra the entire time.
In the next episode, Skye tries to delay Ward and what he’s after while SHIELD tries not to get arrested by the government.
