Christie Brinkley showed off her age-defying physique at the 10th annual Style Awards at New York's Lincoln Center Sept. 4.
Brinkley donned a form-fitting lace evening gown that accentuated her super-toned figure. She posed on the red carpet with daughter Sailor Cook, 15, and supermodel Kate Upton, who received the 2013 Model of the Year award at the event, which kicked off New York Fashion Week.
Brinkley, 59, has barely aged during the past two decades, thanks to her active lifestyle and longtime vegetarian diet. "I've been a vegetarian since I was about 12 years old," she told Shape. "When I became a vegetarian I got my mom and dad to become vegetarian, and my brother became a vegetarian."
Brinkley typically has oatmeal with mixed berries with breakfast, a large salad with beans and nuts for lunch, and pasta with vegetables for dinner. The 5-foot-9 blonde stunner snacks on dark chocolate, nuts, seeds, soy snacks or Fuji apples with peanut butter.
Despite being celebrated for her athletic good looks and gracing the cover of over 500 magazines, Christie thought she looked fat when she was younger.
“I came across an older picture of me that someone had posted on Facebook and I totally remember feeling very fat while I was shooting it,” she said. “And I look at it now and think, 'I was actually really thin!' How is it possible that I felt so uncomfortable in that body?”
Brinkley has remained remarkably natural-looking without resorting to excessive plastic surgery like many of her peers. She got a facelift in early 2010, around the same time her daughter Alexa Ray Joel, 27, got a nose job, but has remained generally surgery-free.
The fit mom of three works out regularly, doing a combination of yoga, strength-training, running and walking to maintain her stunning swimsuit body. Christie also makes a point of sneaking in calisthenics as soon as she wakes up in the morning.
"I try to get in 100 push-ups every day," she said. "It's really easy. I keep a rolled up yoga mat under my bed. I'll do 30 push-ups before I get in the shower. Then I do another 20 before I dry my hair, and now I've done 50. After I dry my hair, I'll come back and I'll do more."
