Miami Valley , Whitewater Valley, and the I-71 corridor of Ohio/Indiana:
High pressure will build in allowing for some pm sun but cold to lock in today. This will set the stage for the next possible winter storm that will track further North. Current forecast tracks are for the low to track just West of the Appalachian mountains weakening as it goes into West Virginia and then transferring its energy to a low off the coast of Virginia. Initially some warm aloft (Over our heads) will accompany the storm Tuesday evening allowing for a rain/sleet/freezing rain mix to occur but as the low weakens colder air will filter in aloft changing precipitation to snow late Tuesday night and Wednesday am. This would put moderate accumulations of snow and some ice accumulations across the I-71 corridor and mainly rain SE of the I-71 corridor. Areas well NW of the I-71 corridor may stay all snow with significant accumulations likely. Also along the I-71 corridor ice accumulations of 0.2 to 0.5 inches could occur and this is enough to cut power lines and take down tree limbs. There could be serious implications if this storm stays majority ice and snow. Stay tuned as there are several more model runs to analyze as this is a developing winter storm and has the potential to shift in track and bring significant winter weather to the area.
Behind this storm very cold air will return to the region with another brief high pressure building in. Another low pressure may effect the region over the weekend.
