HOW TO GET OUT OF THE HOLIDAY SLUMP: Tips for Revamping your decor after the season

When all the gifts have been opened and your guests have gone home, it’s also time to say goodbye to your holiday décor. While it can be refreshing to make your home yours again, it often feels like your space is sparse after becoming accustomed to mantles lined with holly and trees laced with lights. This year, avoid the holiday slump by updating your home décor after the season with tips that are both easy and affordable.

“After you put away your holiday décor, it’s easy to fall into a rut when making your next design decision,” says Paula Berberaian, Creative Director of WallPops. “However, many people don’t know that they can revamp their homes using decorations you already have on hand.” Here, she offers tips for updating your décor after the holiday decorations go back into their boxes.

1. Rearrange Furniture
One of the easiest and most inexpensive ways to make a space feel new is to move around the furniture that is already in your home. For instance, the bookshelf in your office may serve a practical purpose in storing references and novels, but that piece can truly come to life in a different room. Reorganize your reading collection and incorporate favorite frames or bowls of scented berries. Make more of your new design with an accent wall using WallPops Kolkata wall decals. The champagne hues compliment any color scheme, and the peel and stick designs with diamond gems will make your new space shine.

2. Re-Pot Plants
After the holidays there’s no shortage of flowers and plants to make your home come alive, but poinsettias wrapped in gold often channel the holidays. Reuse the plants you have on hand or bring your outdoor bulbs in, but make them feel fresh by putting them into new pots. Winter white makes for a great go-to when updating your floral arrangements, and textured ceramics add an interesting element. Make your plants the highlight of the room by pairing them with the WallPops Anya decals featuring gorgeous flowers in turquoise, chocolate and chartreuse that will be equally appropriate when the weather warms up.

3. Add Pops of Color
Nothing says the holidays like decking the halls with colored lights and bursts of red, but vibrant shades are just as effective after the season. Leave the holiday hues in favor of fresh colors, like turquoise, which works well with classic winter whites. “Turquoise is everywhere, and it’s not just for summer seasons,” Berberian says. “Incorporating touches of turquoise in the home creates a serene and relaxing atmosphere.” WallPops Pearl Blue Chandelier, made from iridescent sequins in blues and greens, creates a feeling of tranquility, and the ready-to-hang design guarantees a stress-free installation.

4. Create an Organization Station
Making New Year’s resolutions is easy in theory but practicing them can prove challenging. The key to making your promises last well past the holiday season is staying focused and organized. One of the best ways to keep on track with your New Year’s resolutions is by creating an organization area in your home. Set up shop at an unused corner of your home with a stationary set and decorative glass filled with colorful pens, creating a space that’s both pretty and practical. Capitalize on the productivity with WallPops St.Tropez Message Board, which channels bohemian beauty with tropical flowers. The peel-and-stick dry erase board is the perfect place to write down reminders, or even a positive pick-me-up that will keep you feeling dedicated to whatever your cause may be.
