There is an emerging trend appearing in the United States today, which has been fairly standard throughout the rest of the world. It appears that more and more Americans are finding it possible to reconcile after infidelity of one or even both partners. We are seeing it more and more even among celebrities, and the rich and famous. Among our President it is not so new. Presidents Roosevelt, Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson, and Clinton to name just a few were all reported to have had infidelities, and still remained with their first ladies. Stars of motion pictures, television, sports, and other forms of entertainment or industry caught up in affairs have been making attempts for reconciliation: Brad Pitt, Sandra Bullock, Larry King, John Edwards, Mel Gibson, David Letterman, to name a few who have been in the news regarding consideration of reconciliation rather than separation and divorce. In just this past year many celebrities have made national news by reconciliation after notorious affairs. Where successful this trend is good for families as well as society and civilization as whole.
Statistically over 50% of spouses are victims of their partner’s infidelity. This is one of the
major causes of the over 50% divorce rate in the United States. But there is a slowly developing
trend toward reconciliation after infidelity. We believe this is going to continue to be a growing trend.
