Kris Jenner, the famous "momager" of the Kardashian family, looks as if she has it all. But when she was 41, she "got gestational diabetes during my pregnancy, gaining 80 pounds," said Kris in an interview with New You magazine.
To lose 70 pounds (she admits she still has 10 to go), Kris said she did "nothing too extreme." But she did go on a formal diet and fitness program.
"I love the Atkins Diet. I feel better if I eat less and eat cleaner," said Kris. The Atkins diet consists of a high fat low carb ketogenic diet. Detailed in books such as "New Atkins for a New You: The Ultimate Diet for Shedding Weight and Feeling Great" and "The New Atkins for a New You Cookbook: 200 Simple and Delicious Low-Carb Recipes in 30 Minutes or Less," the plan consists of phases that emphasize protein, healthy fats and vegetables.
In addition, Kris has used what she called the "Rocco DiSpirito diet." He's the author of "The Pound a Day Diet: Lose Up to 5 Pounds in 5 Days by Eating the Foods You Love" and "Now Eat This!: 150 of America's Favorite Comfort Foods, All Under 350 Calories."
Beyond the diets, Kim exercises.
"I work out with Gunnar Peterson as well as with Tracy Anderson," said Kris.
Gunnar is the author of "The Workout: Core Secrets from Hollywood's #1 Trainer." In addition to training Kris, he's currently working with her son Rob. He's also the creator of fitness DVDs such as "Core Secrets: 25 Minute Full Body Workout / Accelerated Core Training."
As for Tracy Anderson, she's the go-to fitness guru for Gwyneth Paltrow. Her exercise DVDs include Tracy Anderson: Precision Toning.
