As she readily acknowledges, Lolo Jones has had a disappointing season. The track and field star, who competes in the 100 meter hurdles, was hampered by a hamstring injury throughout the year, and failed to make the US team for the IAAF World Championships. Her season ended prematurely in Zurich when she tore her hamstring. "The year has been a nightmare, but despite my injury problems I still ran 12.47 so I have to take some consolation from that," Jones says in an IAAF online diary.
Lolo Jones also announced to her fans that she will be appearing in ESPN's Body Issue, which is due to hit newsstands this Friday, October 9. Jones admits that she was initially nervous about posing naked, but she says the photo shoot "was done in a very tasteful and discreet way." According to Jones, the ESPN photos are not about being sexy. "It is not just about posing without clothes. Plenty of people have done that. Too many girls and women work for impossibly skinny bodies that aren’t necessarily healthy. Maybe this will provide a better model for girls to aspire to," said Jones in a press release posted on her official website. Jones' photos for ESPN were shot in New Orleans.
Lolo Jones is rehabbing from her hamstring injury, and she is looking forward to a better season in 2010. Jones hopes to compete in the new IAAF Diamond League, and she already has her sights set on the 2010 IAAF Indoor World Championships.
The ESPN Body Issue is set to be released this Friday, and it will include representatives from a wide range of sports. Other athletes photographed for the Body Issue include Serena Williams, Gina Carano, Carl Edwards and Natasha Kai.

I'm so disappointed that Lolo did this. And she's totally trying to justify being nude as an okay thing. It's not.
