Update 6/2/13: Bambi is safe! She has left the building...

At 13 years of age, a Chihuahua named "Bambi," has found herself sitting alone in a kennel run, rather than inside of a home enjoying her golden years with the company of a beloved guardian.

On May 22, Bambi was surrendered to the Los Angeles County Animal Care and Control facility in Baldwin Park, Calif. A photo captured by a volunteer reveals a depressed dog who is likely confused about how her life has suddenly changed.

Bambi has become a number...another dog, one of dozens, who is in need of a new family. Most people who visit the facility are searching for a young dog with a long life ahead of them...not an elderly dog who has given her best years to someone else.
