It's that time again for one of the biggest, most anticipated, eclectic music festivals in Brooklyn, or something that has evolved into a "movement".

Afro Punk festival is returning this late Summer with a lineup that is so far pretty interesting, with some returning acts and a lot of new ones. Just yesterday, Afro Punk announced it's partial lineup, consisting of returning artists, such as: Straight Line Stitch, Unlocking the Truth, Trash Talk, Gordon Voidwell, among others. As well, as Afro Punk first timers, with the likes of: soul songstresses, like: SZA and Lianne La Havas, alternative bands, such as: HO99O9 (pronounced "horror" and numerous DJs, including: Melo-X & Jasmine Solano, DJ Slick, and known acts, such as: Body Count and D'Angelo. So far, so good.

The festival is scheduled to take place in late August on the 24th and 25th at Commordore Barry Park. Currently, Afro Punk is holding it's infamous competition, Battle of the Bands, which will grant one lucky band (or musician) the opportunity of a lifetime to perform at Afro Punk, after a series of competitions with numerous bands going head to head for a spot on the lineup!

On July 10, the 17 finalist that have been selected already will battle it out musically to claim their position!
