Afro Punk is now entering its 8th year of existence with its festival at Commodore Barry Park in Ft. Greene Brooklyn, Saturday and Sunday August 24-25, 2013 from Noon to 9ish (maybe slightly later).
Originally designed as Do it Yourself event for black people who didn't identify with mainstreasm black culture like R&B, soul, most Hip Hop it was people into metal and hard rock with slightly different viewpoints but very much rooted in the black experience in America. It has morphed into an event with Black alternative life with great music from old school metal Living Colour performing to Chuck D from Public Enemy to lesser known but critically acclaimed acts ranging from rock, metal and hip hop acts.
There will also be over 26 food trucks lined up, representing from Korean BBQ to Pizza to Jamaican food, hell anything that you could want for good food truck cuisine.
